Apple Cinnamon Smoothie Recipe- You’ll love It!

Brian and I have become so into making smoothies lately. Ever since we invested in a decent blender, we have been on this kick. I’m loving it. I enjoy having one on my way to work every morning. Lately i’ve been craving something  with apples in it, so we just threw some different ingredients into the blender and BAM, we created the Apple Cinnamon Smoothie.

While it may take a little bit of chopping, peeling off skin of different fruits, and measuring a few ingredients, all you really have to do is just throw it all into the blender. We have a Ninja Blender. Which, by the way, karate chops fruit up better than teenage mutant ninja turtle (corny joke, i know).

5 Things I Love About This Week!

Oh what a week it’s been! I’ve had the flu all week! {Yuck}.  Let me tell you…It’s NO fun to be that sick and I don’t think I’ll be missing my flu shot next year! While it’s been a pretty sickly week, I certainly have had things to love while I’ve been laying at home on the couch.

love

  • My dog Belle. This little baby girl has been my side kick all.week.long. Her little body is so warm… she has been right beside me keeping snug as a bug in a rug. There is just something comforting having her by my side. Bellesleeping

  • Gossip Girl. I now feel like I’m besties with Serena and Blair. They were my good friends while I was lying in bed feeling like I was dying. I’m even channeling my inner Blair Waldorf today (I.E.-the hairband .duh.) I love this show. It’s a classic.hairband
  • This guy. My fiancé Brian has been my saving grace this week.  He has calmed me down when I want to cry because I felt so bad, he gave me my meds, brought me OJ, cooked me meals, made me smile and basically just was the best dude ever and I love him.Silly Brian
  • My engagement ring. Sometimes I look down at my hand and think “Dang, is that really mine?” I have to pinch my arm and say to myself, “Yes Lauren, you are engaged.” I am still to this day on cloud nine knowing that I am marrying Brian. I just feel so freaking lucky.Ring
  • Brussel Sprouts. I know I know, a lot of people don’t really love these little cabbages BUT let me tell you something…They are DELISH. I have a wonderful recipe that I am going to share with you next week for honey mustard Brussel Spouts with pecans. Don’t knock it until you try it. Look out for that recipe next week. 😉

  Hi, I’m Jessie from Fashion Life! I am so excited to provide you with a look for one of your many Christmas parties this season!   I went for a more formal look and loved it.  I think this look is so elegant and would fit in anywhere, whether it’s a Christmas party at a restaurant or even at someone’s house.  I actually used a black lace dress for my top and put this long gold maxi skirt over it.  I added gold and silver accessories and a black clutch.  I think sparkly is a must for holiday parties.  I usually add sparkle through jewelry, but you can see I also added it here in my clutch and belt.  The clutch is a bit hard to see, but there are rhinestones on the clasp.

Overnight Oats

This weekend I’m hopefully saying “Yes to the dress” and in a couple of weeks, Brian and I will be having our engagement shots done! We are so excited! With all of these exciting times ahead, I am trying (of course) to get a little slimmer. Right now , i’m on the eating clean bandwagon. I’m limiting the number of processed foods in my diet. We will see how that goes!

I’ve  admired Lauren Conrad since back in the good ole days of the reality TV show, Laguna Beach. I still like to follow her on pinterest and look at her website.  I think she has great style and I love seeing her different looks.  She also  gives some great fitness and healthy living advice on her website .  I think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so I’ve been trying to figure out new healthier things to eat! “Overnight Oats” is a concoction LC eats and I tried them out today! They were fantastic. I normally start to get realllly hungry right at about 10 am but this meal kept me fuller for a little bit longer!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2/3 cup milk {or milk of your choice, I used Skim but you can also use almond milk}
  • 1/2 cup organic rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup vanilla {or plain} Greek yogurt {I used non-fat}
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon

Here’s what you’ll do:

  1. The night before you plan to eat your oats, mix together all of the ingredients listed above and seal in an airtight container.
  2. Refrigerate the mixture overnight {they will be ready in about 3 hours, but overnight is best}.
  3. Enjoy when you wake up with a fresh cup of coffee!

I topped my mine with a little bit of brown sugar, strawberries and chia seeds. By the way, if you didn’t know, chia seeds have a lot of health benefits such as helping with weightloss, reducing blood pressure, helps you feel full faster, and has tons of omega-3 ( even more than salmon!)
