5 Things I Love About This Week!

Oh what a week it’s been! I’ve had the flu all week! {Yuck}.  Let me tell you…It’s NO fun to be that sick and I don’t think I’ll be missing my flu shot next year! While it’s been a pretty sickly week, I certainly have had things to love while I’ve been laying at home on the couch.

  • My dog Belle. This little baby girl has been my side kick all.week.long. Her little body is so warm… she has been right beside me keeping snug as a bug in a rug. There is just something comforting having her by my side. Bellesleeping

  • Gossip Girl. I now feel like I’m besties with Serena and Blair. They were my good friends while I was lying in bed feeling like I was dying. I’m even channeling my inner Blair Waldorf today (I.E.-the hairband .duh.) I love this show. It’s a classic.hairband
  • This guy. My fiancé Brian has been my saving grace this week.  He has calmed me down when I want to cry because I felt so bad, he gave me my meds, brought me OJ, cooked me meals, made me smile and basically just was the best dude ever and I love him.Silly Brian
  • My engagement ring. Sometimes I look down at my hand and think “Dang, is that really mine?” I have to pinch my arm and say to myself, “Yes Lauren, you are engaged.” I am still to this day on cloud nine knowing that I am marrying Brian. I just feel so freaking lucky.Ring
  • Brussel Sprouts. I know I know, a lot of people don’t really love these little cabbages BUT let me tell you something…They are DELISH. I have a wonderful recipe that I am going to share with you next week for honey mustard Brussel Spouts with pecans. Don’t knock it until you try it. Look out for that recipe next week. 😉

XOXO!!!! Happy Weekend!

2014 Resolutions

HAPPPPPPY New Year my friends! It’s that time of year again where we reflect on what we want to accomplish in the new year. I love creating goals for myself and while I seem to have the same ones for each year, I love having a road map to help me able to strive to do better.

Here are my new year resolutions for 2014. These are in no particular order and they are all just as important.

  1. Sleep more- I want to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. I know I preform a lot better mentally and physically when I have had my beauty rest.
  2. Get organized- My goal is to get organized at home and in the office. My desk at work looks like a tornado has hit and at home, I have waaaay too many clothes.
  3. Write (blog) more- writing is my creative outlet and I don’t do it enough. My goal is to write several more times a week.
  4. Get finances in order- Since we are getting married in 4 months, Brian and I have a goal to become more financially responsible together. We will save more, spend less in 2014.
  5. Eat cleaner- I am going to eat less processed foods this year. I will eat more of my favorite fruits and vegetables.
  6. Run ALOT- My goal is to train for a major run this year. Big things will be happening for 2014 in the running department. I want to be able to run a lot longer distances and will have the endurance for distance running.

Well… There ya have it , my 6 major resolutions for 2014. I know this year is going to be a great year for us all! I can’t wait to see what the future will bring! 😉

It’s the Little Moments…Here’s to a New Year!

Well another year has come and gone. 2013 has vanished and 2014 is on its way. It’s amazing how life just seems to fly by. It’s kind of scary if you ask me. The New Year has always been one of my favorite times of year. It’s a time of change, a fresh start… a new beginning. It’s time to prepare for the best!

I know for some of you, 2013 seemed like a continuous Friday the 13th. It seemed like it was one thing after another after another. This is your chance to start over fresh. Don’t look back! Don’t let your awful, horrible, no good year spill into your new year of greatness. Expect to have an amazing 2014. This IS your year, my dear!

2013 was a wonderful year in my book. Some pretty big milestones happened in this chapter of my life. I went to Las Vegas, saw Luke Bryan, Jason Alden AND Jake Owen all in one show, got engaged, saw my brother graduate from college, started planning a wedding, opened a new company with my dad and brother, started living with my best friend (Brian), got a new car and saw my cousin, who happens to be one of my best friends, graduate college as well. While the big milestones mean a lot, it’s the little moments that make up life as we know it.

Some of my favorite little moments of 2013:

  1. Finding out that oysters are really REALLY good.
  2. Daily chats with Momma.
  3. Carolina football games.
  4. Long walks in my neighborhood.
  5. Days on the water this past summer.
  6. Seeing my dog go crazy when I get home because she is so excited to see me.
  7. Cooking some really good meals with my honey.
  8. Hearing Katie Bug (My soon to be niece) call me “Aunt Lauren”.
  9. Seeing Caroline (My other soon to be niece) running towards me to give me a hug.
  10. Laying on the couch with candles burning and a glass of wine in hand, watching my favorite TV shows.
  11. Seeing Brian when I come home and when I wake up. (Sorry for the cheesiness.)
  12. The many lunches with friends. Especially the times when we ate sushi.
  13. Anytime I had a good belly laugh.
  14. Seeing my granny feel better.
  15. Those moments when I get inspired to write.

What are some of your favorite “little moments” of 2013?

I hope 2014 treats you amazing because you deserve it! I’ll see ya next year! 😉
